The French Connection - A programme of music focusing on Handel’s early works when he was under the shadow of Purcell. Music to include Handel’s Eternal Source of Light Divine alongside works by Purcell, Lully, the little-known Sébastien Le Camus and Rameau’s monumental Suite in A minor. With Zarah Hible (mezzo-soprano) and David Wright (harpsichord). 25 February.
A Baroque Viola - Elena Artamonova (viola) and Nicholas Walker (harpsichord) perform works written or arranged for the viola including pieces by Teleman, Bach and Vasilenko. 4 March.
Mozart's idols: Handel, Hasse and Bach - A nine year old Mozart wrote in a dedication to Queen Charlotte: “Let me live, and one day I will offer...a gift… that will equal the glory of all the great men of my country, I will become as immortal as Handel and Hasse, and my name will be as famous as that of [JC] Bach.” Sarah Moule (soprano) and Erik Dipenaar (harpsichord) explore exquisite arias from these masters of the age. 11 March.
