How to reach Stonehenge -
COACHES - From Victoria Coach Station.
Pros - This is the cheapest option. The best deal we found was a one way ticket for £5.00!!
Cons - The approximate travel time from Victoria Station to Salisbury is 2 hours 50 minutes long and once you reach Salisbury you will need to take either a local bus or a taxi to Stonehenge. The local bus is inexpensive, from £5.00 to £7.00 and the taxi would charge you around 20 pounds each way. Try to remember to arrange the return journey with your driver else... Buses run approximately every 30 min. Monday to Saturday and you should expect the journey to last 20 minutes.
TRAINS - From Waterloo Station.
Pros - More comfortable and faster journey compared to the coach trip.
Cons - More expensive. Day Return ticket for 1 person starts from £32.80 (2009 prices) http://southwesttrains.co.uk. Please don't forget that you will have to take a local bus or a taxi from Salisbury train station in order to reach Stonehenge.
CAR - From your hotel or private address.
Pros - By far the easiest and most comfortable journey. Travel journey by car from Central London to Stonehenge would last approximately 1 hour 45 minutes.
Cons - The most expensive. The return trip for 4 persons from Central London to Stonehenge starts from £190.00. For your money you will get FREE TWO HOURS waiting time at Stonehenge so that you can take enough photos and even have a little bite before going back. Book a car.
