This toy shop will make a dent in your budget if you go wild with your shopping, however you will feel young once again.
William Hamley opened his first shop in 1760 in Holborn. His grandsons opened a new branch in Regent Street in 1881 and managed to run it successfully until 1931 when the
economic depression across Europe forced the shop into liquidation. Several
years later on it was saved by by a man who had ridden on the delivery vans as
a boy, Walter Lines, who bought it and rebuilt its reputation.
